Types of Racing Events We Cover
- Rally and Hillclimb. Rally races are held on special routes in mountainous, forested or rural terrain — dirt roads, tight turns, rocks and ravines. One deviation can lead to a fire in a matter of seconds. The presence of a fire truck with a certified crew on each special stage is mandatory by the OMAE regulations.
- Karting. Karting tracks host high-speed races, where fuel leakage or engine overheating, mechanical friction and high temperatures can cause a fire in a split second.
- Drag Racing and Drift. Drag races and drift events involve extreme mechanical stress, extensive tire burnout and highly volatile fuels — often methanol or nitromethane.
- Circuit Racing. Races on permanent or semi-permanent tracks require coverage at multiple points simultaneously, with rapid movement in the event of an accident.
Why Motorsport Fire Protection Requires Specialization
A fire in a race car is not like a conventional fire. The main threats are:
- Fuel fires. Gasoline, methanol, and nitromethane ignite quickly. Methanol in particular burns with an invisible flame — it is not visible but causes severe burns. Extinguishing requires AFFF foam or dry powder, not just water.
- Hydraulic fluids. Hydraulic brake and transmission systems contain fluids that ignite at high temperatures and produce toxic smoke.
- Tires and composites. Burning tires and carbon fiber produces dense, toxic smoke. Extinguishing must be done quickly, before the fire spreads to the rest of the vehicle.
- Lithium Batteries (EV). Electric racing vehicles introduce a new hazard: thermal runaway in lithium batteries, which requires large amounts of water for cooling and a special extinguishing-removal protocol.
Our Equipment for Racing Events
- Mercedes-Benz 1222 4×4 — 2,900 liters of water. Four-wheel drive fire truck, ideal for deployment on rally and hill climb special routes. With a water jet of 50 meters, a high-pressure pump and a two-room cabin for a 9-person crew, it covers every point of the route — even on a difficult dirt road.
- Multiple types of firefighting equipment. Water, AFFF foam, CO2, dry powder for fuel fires, electrical fires, etc.
- Aerial Surveillance Drone. On extensive rally routes, the drone provides a panoramic view and identifies smoke or fire sources in real time.
- Certified Crew. Each vehicle can be accompanied by graduates of the Greek Emergency Medical Service (BLS/AED), trained in first aid, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, vehicle extrication, urban firefighting, extrication using rescue tools. In a speed race, reaction time is measured in seconds.
FIA / OMAE Regulations
The regulations of OMAE (Greek Motor Sports Federation) and FIA (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile) explicitly state that in every speed race there must be:
- Fire truck on each special stage (rally) or at designated track points
- Extraction crew trained in extricating people
- Fuel and chemical extinguishing equipment
- First aid equipment

Is the presence of a firefighter mandatory at speed races?
Yes. The OMAE and FIA regulations explicitly state that in every speed race (rally, hill climbs, karting, drag, drift) there must be a fire truck with an extraction crew and firefighting equipment.
Can your vehicles be driven off-road on special rally routes?
Yes. Our company has four-wheel drive (4×4) fire trucks, designed to operate on dirt roads, forest areas and uneven terrain. They are placed at critical points on the special route for immediate intervention.
Can you deal with a fuel fire?
Yes. Our equipment includes AFFF foam for gasoline and liquid fuel fires, CO2 for electrical fires, and a high-pressure pump for rapid extinguishing before the fire spreads to adjacent forest areas.
Can the crew free a driver?
Yes. Our company has personnel trained in vehicle extrication — extracting an injured person from a racing vehicle using rescue tools, as well as executives who are graduates of the Greek Emergency Medical Service (EKAB) and are certified in BLS/AED.
